Oil temp or cylinder head temp?
IIRC, oil temp should not exceed 230F and cylinder head temp somewhere around 400F, I'd have to look them up to be sure as it's been awhile.

Where are you measuring the temp?

I shoulda mentioned that.
I'm trying to find the plastic to use for the window on the see thru clutch cover, and I need to get something that has a higher constant temp capability, and a much higher breakdown capability.
230 would work perfecty. The stuff I am looking at doesn't start to have breakdown till 300*, and can have a constant temp of up to 270* without a problem.
I'll be adding an oil cooler to the bike obviosly with the big bore kit, so I should be able to keep it below those temps.

What plastic are you looking at?

You have probably figured this in, but, watch the expansion differences between plastic and aluminum. Depending on how you mount the window it could cause a sealing problem.
What plastic are you looking at?
Polycarbonate/lexan.
I was planning on attaching it with a combination of bolts and a gasket in the inside to stop leakage.

Don't know which bike you are looking for the window for but AmericanClassix.com sells one to fit a Z1. Might fit your application. I think it sells for about $20.00.

No, it's closer to $250.00.
I'm making my own see thru cover.

Make sure to post pics of it! maybe even the build in progress pics, if it looks easy, and as cool as I think it will, I might try to make one if yours works out.
Do you have access to machining equiptment? Mills, CNC, etc? You'll need to to make it.

Not really.... I guess this is too precise for the basic shop tools eh?

Not too precise, but it'd be damn near im possible to make a round hole perfectly, and would take you forever. If it's something you want to do I could make you one once I move and get my garage set up.
