Exhaust tuning complete was created by Exitpupil
I finally finished my exhaust tuning. I was inspired by some posts and comments by forum members. I have a KZ1075 (10.25:1), K410 cams, high velocity ported head, BS34 carbs, and V&H 4 into 1 exhaust. I removed the exhaust baffle and noted more top end power but with a stutter from 2K-4K rpm. So I bought a V&H performance baffle and the bike ran great, pulling smooth and strong from 2K-11K rpm, but with considerable noise increase over the street baffle. The street baffle was 1.5" and the performance baffle was 2" and also shorter allowing a larger expansion area between the collector and the baffle. Here is a pic of the 2" baffle (top)homemade baffle(mid) and the 1.5" street baffle(after cutting in two)

Both V&H baffles had abrupt transitions into the exit pipe. So I bought a long mild steel transition from Burns Stainless Steel. I also bought some 1.625" perforated screen pipe. I made my own baffle using the long transition modified to fit the 1.625 pipe welded to the perforated 1.625 pipe thinking the smooth transition with slightly larger pipe would give good scavaging and reduced noise. I also made a special long shaft rotary cutting burr and removed horrible interior overhanging lips at the megaphone joint welds. Well it worked! I still have the power of the 2" baffle with a noise level much closer to the 1.5" pipe. Time to ride ride ride.

Nice job Will! Can you post another image showing the right side of the baffles where you welded the transition tube. On the image you posted I can only see the exit side of the baffle. Thanks.

Also, how about a couple shots from different angles, and with a measuring tape next to them.

Good work!
