Hi,

I have a '79 KZ1000ST E-1. I've always liked the bikes from the TV show cHiPs, including that "DOHC" points cover down on the lower engine of their police cruisers. Does this cover fit on my bike? The one I have on there now is original and just says "Kawasaki" on it and has raised horizontal lines across it.

This is what my ignition cover looks like now. Can I swap it for the one above?

Yes, 1973-80 Z1/KZ1000/KZ900 will all interchange. Your's must have been stripped of the black at some point. Here's how the ST looks.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Thanks Ron! Is that your ST pictured above? Wow, showroom condition! Mine is missing some paint and doesn't look nearly that clean. Thanks again for the advice.

Yes, I love my ST. I was lucky enough to get it for $2500 which was a bit of money, and had to drive 2400 miles in a single weekend to pick it up, but it's mint. My favorite KZ ever, although the 79 MKII is a nice motorcycle too. The ST is just so well built.

not all the later ones were black--i believe the 79 or 80 LTD had a similar cover but was silver like onanysundays pic.
