I've got a chance to buy piston rings for my bike which would be great for my rebuild over the winter. Will I need bigger than standard rings when i rehone a cylinder with 30,000 miles on it?

When you get your Engine apart you will need to measure your Bores to see if it is still in spec or need bored out to the next size .. Buying rings now might not be the best thing to do unless they are a real steal ..

if they are standard rings, they are about rare a hens teeth for the 650, I bought a set on flea bay a while back.
It is true that you will need to check the bores first then determine if over size is needed, both piston and rings.

If it were me, I would buy them and if you dont need them after you do the tear down, you can sure sell them
