I have some broken fins on my 77 KZ 650. Not many, only two or three and the don’t go all the way into the block, only the outer edges. Besides it looking bad, are there any issues that would pop up because of this? Could they be the beginning of stress fractures?

Usually if it's just the outer part of the fin there will be no probs. If any are broken off at the root right up against the block well, that's another story entirely.
Also the cause and mechanism of the breakage will tell a story too.
