if you haven't got the head back together i'd get a valve job done at the same time those contact areas on the valve faces look awfully wide it is worth doing. don't just lap the valves when you do that all you are doing is wearing the seats and valve seats out even faster.
what is the recommended contact width at the seat?

So if I understand correctly, the wider the seat and therefore the greater the seat contact area then:
- The more heat gets transferred to the head of the engine... which is a bad thing.
- The more turbulence is produced and therefore the more resistance/back pressure is produced so that the engine does expel as much waste gas... which is a bad thing.
Did I get this right?
By the way, any one... are there any counter balancing advantages to a wider seat that need to be considered for specific riding styles, reliability, etc. ?
