oil running down kickstand? was created by jdreadrocker
Well i got the old GPZ750 out the other day to do some tinkering on it and i noticed i have oil running down the kickstand. I have no clue where it is coming from. Any ideas?

I am not familiar with the 750, but if it were a 1000, I'd say it is either coming from the wire grommet going into the stator cover, or from one of the oil seals behind the front sprocket cover.

Im also not familiar with 750.
Could be the counter shaft seal, or something as simple as a over oiled chain.
Take the sprocket cover off clean everything up and see.

Just had this problem. For me it was too much oil in the engine. Oil over flowed via the crank case vent hose directly into the bottom of the Air Filter box.

When I reduced the oil to the right level it continued to leak!

Why? Because the oil had accumulated in the bottom of the Air Filter box, in that small sponge/filter thing at the bottom of the box. Being oil soaked it would have continued to leak down the black drain hose for a long time.

I removed all the parts in the Air Box and cleaned them, cleaned out. Then I cleaned the empty Air Box, put in a new longer hose and changed that sponge/filter for some packing material that was similar that I had hanging around the my shop.

I had originally concentrated on the oil filter cover seal/O-ring for a long time. Cost me lots of oil and oil filters and O-rings till I figured it was not the problem.

Best of success. :)

just from looking at my shop manual and the bike it looks like a bad oil seal that goes over the pushrod in part of the clutch assembly. I'll have to double check it but i believe that is where the oil is coming from. keep in mind i'm still a little green when it comes to fixing these Kawasakis so i could be way way way off. i'm gona try replacing that seal and see where that takes me first.

Just checking to see how that seal replacement went. Was it fairly easy to get out? Did you fix the problem?
