Loctited case bolts?

Loctited case bolts? was created by Mike W.
I need to put a new clutch cable on my #2 bike (99 kz1000p). In trying to turn the bolts that hold the sprocket cover on, I was met by a total lack of bolt motion. Sure feels to me like the previous owner red-loctited those things. I tried hitting the end of an Allen wrench with a hammer while it was in the bolt, but to joy. Anyone have any ideas?

Try a hair dryer at high settings just be careful around paint and plastic parts. Apply heat and try again. If the bolts are not held in with Loctite they just might be stuck with corrosion(steel bolts in an aluminum case, sounds like dissimilar corrosion)

When you get them out and before re-installing the bolts get some silver anti-seize and apply a little to the threads(it will be easier to remove next time). The auto parts store sells permatex anti-seize in a tube.

Thank you. The setting where bolts were would have made heating quite a challenge. After dinner last night, I was ready to just break the bolts off and put new ones in. I applied WAY more torque to remove them than I thought the bolts would take and everyone of them did break loose. You were right... just frozen in place. I don't have to head down to VA to track someone down for using red loctite on a case bolt:) Thank you again.
