Transmission Issues Won't Go Into to Gear

Hello I was wondering if I could get some advice on my 77 KZ 650. My bike hade been sitting for some time with out running. Part of my issue was I needed a new clutch cable. I finally decided it was time to take care of it and start my bike up. I replaced the cable ok and finally got it started. However when I go to kick it into first gear, it acts like it goes, the neutral light is switch off, but I don’t actually go into gear. The bike even jumps a little bit, like the gear was engaged. The bike will go no where. I tried to put it into other higher gears and still nothing. I have even tried with the engine off to put it into gear, then push it to see if I get some sort of resistance, still nothing, it’s like it is still in neutral. So my question is, did I screw something up when replace the clutch cable, forget to put something back, or do I have a bigger problem? Did something maybe break from it sitting to long? Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated.

No,don't apologize,bud...just wanted you to take a look there,before we got onto YOUR clutch issues,because they sound like they COULD be similar.

It did in fact. All I need to do was a little adjusting and wham-o, back up and running. Thanks again for the help.
