It's been a long 3 months waiting for parts and other BS issues with vendors so I'm now rejuvenated with motivation to get back at her...
Glad you guys like,

What did you use to get such great results? How 'bout a little step-by-step write up on this. Great job!

As for a right up, it was rather easier than you think but here's the jest of it...
Engine Block:
No chemical in the world was going to get that 30 year old crud off, henceforth, out comes the wire wheel "soft bristle" with a little hard bristle at times. Hard tends to scratch the aluminum to deep so stay with the soft as much as possible. Took about 4 hours to complete for a dull finish.
Engine block and Covers:
Then with a Tripoli "medium cut" polish, start buffing (drill attached 6" buff wheel) for a dull shine. Then finish off with white compound for the bling.
The block itself is shiny new but nothing compared to the covers regarding mirror quality. It would take a large amount of work to get the block smoothed out enough for mirror effects.
Then you'd have to polish the damn thing every other week or so to keep it that way, no thanks, too much work with no time left to ride...
Total time 1-2 days pending the condition of your covers for the bling results. From previous write up, I had some severe scratches in the covers that I had to braze, file, sand and buff. This time around was just bling buff...
You no what was the real bitch was getting off the original cylinder studs... Holly crap, there were times I thought they were going to snap/shear off or worst case bust the block... I was a praying to the KZ gods... I was forced to pipe wrench them off...
With the new APE heavy duty studs, no blown head gaskets for me...

Mine came out the same way also. Every one of them the same. Hard! From start to finish. I had to use 2 pairs of vise grips. One wouldn't grip enough. I would have used a pipe wrench but couldn't find one.
