so my brother broke off my oil passage bolt and I can't seem to find any OEM parts to replace it. What are my options? Can I just go get a bolt that fits?

Are you talking about where the oil pressure gauge would install on the left side of the engine?

It probably is the same on all 1977-83 KZ and GPZ models and maybe before 1977 as Kawasaki tends to use simular parts for many years.

www.oldbikebarn.com would be one website as well as www.oldkawman.com , www.babbitsonline and www.z1enterprises.com

I have looked on those sites as well as writing guys who part out old kz's... either they don't have it or won't sell just the bolt. Here's a pic:

Still running ignition points? The threads in the hole are metric. Can you take the bolt and go to the bike shops and find a match up? Some auto parts stores have a good selection of metric hardware that might fit.

I don't know what part of the country you're in but Ace Hardware has a pretty good selection of metric bolts too.

I switched BACK to points from an electronic ignition that got fried. In all honesty I can't say either one is better since I have had nothing but problems with the bike and only rode it with the points for about 70 miles. Now the motor is in pieces and god only knows when the thing will be back together and running IF EVER. Haha.
