I rode my bike to work today, ran fine the whole way there.

Today I went to go home, and right after I pulled out onto the road the bike was running rough and couldn't even maintain 40 mph.

It almost sounded like it was only running on one cylinder. I pulled off the side of the road, and it didn't seem to want to idle. I had no idea what it was, tried to run it for a few minutes, and then it was fine, and I rode it all the way home and it was fine.

What happened?

My 750 twin used to do that when crud from the fuel line would get into a main jet. Eventually gas would flush it clean and it would suddenly run OK.
