Muffler Tip was created by Colos
Hi, all. This is my first post and I have a 1979 KZ650 C3 that I only got about two months ago. The other day I was on the highway when the end blew off my muffler. I was only a couple of minutes from home. I still have the baffle, but there is no longer any packing or "tip" on the end. I drove back to the spot where it happened, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I believe that the bike has the original exhaust (4 into 1 Kerker). My question is this: The rest of the exhaust system is fine. Is there anywhere that I can get a new tip for the muffler to avoid buying a whole new exhaust (it's not really a tip, as it was inset to begin with)? I've done a lot of searching and all I've been able to find for this particular exhaust is to purchase a whole new system for around $500.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

sounds like the screws backed off and out came the baffle! www.supertrapp.com (they make Kerker parts too)

Welcome.
B)

I'd like to see that C3 of yours, one of the best kzs in my opinion. Do post up a picture or two.

They came with a 4 into 2 system originally.
The Kerker is an aftermarket exhaust system.
I tried removing the end cap on mine, and couldn't get the screw out, and here yours goes and falls out on it's own.

Thanks for all the advice! I actually ended up finding a replacement Kerker end cap at denniskirk.com. It will be here on Tuesday. In the meantime, I'm going to pick up some fiberglass filler to repack the muffler. I'll let you know how it goes.

As soon as I get a chance, I'll post some pics. She needs some cosmetic work, but runs like brand new (or will again, once I have the muffler back together)!

I actually got it, not running, for $250! It only needed new tires, carbs cleaned, and a new coil - although the right front fork has started to leak very slightly now...
