Exhaust advice

Exhaust advice was created by Sail
I started trying to restore the exhaust on my KZ750. The headers are badly rusted which I had figured to de-rust, one is sitting it a garbage can with my battery charger connected and appears to be making progress, but my dilemma is whether it is worth doing.
The mufflers appear to have rusted from the inside out and have several holes and splits towards the ends. In addition the right side has been scraped and dinged when the bike was dropped by an earlier owner.
I knew that Mac made a 2 into 1 and was searching around looking for some information and found that they also make a 2 into 2.
So the advice I am looking for is whether I should just scrap the exhaust I have and order either the 2 into 1 or the more original style 2 into 2?
Also if I go with the 2 into 1 will I have to re-jet the carbs?

Any comments and advice would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Ken

Anytime modifications are done to either the intake system(Pods or K&N filters) or exhaust a game begins. With a new exhaust system installed it will seldom match the back pressure of a stock system.

The same applies on intake systems as Pods or K&N fiters flow with much less restriction as a stock paper air filter does. The game I was mentioning is jet sizes, needle positions, and how many turns out before it runs o.k.

i have some websites that might be usefull for your exhaust system search: www.oldkawman.com , www.oldbikebarn.com , www.z1enterprises.com , www.dynoman.net , vintagecyclepart.com , www.z-power.co.uk , www.sudco.com , www.babbitsonline.com , www.partsnmore.com , and www.crconlinecatalog.com . Also the motorcycle salvage yards are another place to look.

Those MAC systems are available in the low 200's. If you can find one to fit your bike you'll be many hours ahead if you just buy one. I had problems with a MAC system I picked up for my 750 twin not fitting up to the head very well. But I found that it was possible to tweak it enough to seal. Yes I had to rejet. I believe the stock mainjet were fine. I think they were 125's. I moved the needles to the lowest slot and changed the pilot jets from 40's to 50's. It's running fine now.

I have a Mac 2-1 on my 750 B4 twin. As said: stock main jets are right, go to a 50 for the pilot, and I had to go two notches rich (use the lowest slot) on the needles but do that last only if you have weak throttle response.
