1045cc kit on KZ900 case ??? was created by Old Man Rock
Hey all,

1015cc kit, kz900 cylinder bore & hone only. No sleeve or case grinding required, I get it.

1075cc kit, kz900 (sleeved) or kz1000 cylinder bore & hone only. Case grinding required, I get it.

Question...
What is required for the 1045cc kit?
Is this a 1015 cylinder in which case the lower case requires grinding for the cylinder sleeves to fit?

Don't think you can put the 1045 in a 902 sleeve and have enough cylinder wall left.

Plummen, 1015 or 1045 is what your referring to?

I'm fairly confident that is a miss print but after what I've been going through lately (Florida vendors) I'm somewhat paranoid....

1015 in stock 900 sleeves leaves very little meat to seal the rings, same as 1105 in stock 1000 sleeves(dont tell Sandy i said that! )

In measuring the sleeves, I believe they had been updated to kz1000 specs... Sleeve opening measured at 69.5mm.

I guess I should measure the thickness of the sleeve as well...

Again, Florida hates me..... :pinch:

its been a while since ive seen a stock bore 1015 but im thinking the bore should be 70mm .look at the bottem of the sleeves,is there still a chamfer in bottem of sleeves?if not im thinking those are 903 sleeves ;)

You are correct. 1015 sleeves are 70mm. 998 sleeves ('81+) are 69.5mm. Are you sure you don't have '81+ jugs? What does the displacement stamp on the side of the cyls say? 1.015L? .998L? .903L?

"What does the displacement stamp on the side of the cyls say? 1.015L? .998L? .903L? "

The cylinder is 903cm if this is what you asked about.

In measuring the pistons, 70mm.

Bores 69.5mm... See other posting on this.
kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...ew&id=232388&catid=2

1015 should be 70mm
1045 should be 71mm
1075 should be 72mm

Basically they sent me the wrong pistons for what I ordered... Same time, the 1015 pistons wouldn;t work either for the bore is only 69.5mm.

I asked this for if they already had a 1045 kit in stock, what would be required to go this route.

Thanks all,

the 1045 would require 1015 sleeves, your block would need to be bored to fit the sleeves.sounds like a major pain in the ass youve stumbled into here!:(

Somewhat unbelievable I know but true just the same. Going on two months now! It's truly mind blowing amazing that this can even be occurring in this manner... Truly SUCKS! :pinch:

Again, Florida hates me!... Poor OMR!

The cylinder and pistons have been sent back. Hopefully Overstock will do the right thing and insure the cylinder is bored to spec (clean and true bore/hone, no ovals) and the new 1015cc pistons will be sent back to me.

Then I can finally get this project going again...
