Synthetic Oil in a KZ650??

Anyone have any info on using synthetic oil in a KZ650. They have a wet clutch and I have heard that synthetic oil can cause clutch slippage and premature wear.

Thanks
Bob

I use mineral oil Shell X100 Super. The other brand widely used here on vintage bikes is Delvac MX1400. Works way better that super-ultra-hyper-synthetic bike-oils.....

My bike's previous owner was an Amsoil distributer, and used Amsoil Synthetic in the bike for years. I rode it for a month with the synthetic oil, then changed to Castrol GTX. The bike ran fine on synthetic, but I really couldn't tell the difference when I switched over. Some people complain of leaks when they go from dino oil to synthetic. Other than that, I just think it's the expense of the oil. I change my oil twice a year... 10W40 in the winter and 20W50 in the summer.

I've been using Kawasaki S4 Synthetic oil for the last two years, on the advice of a kawi mechanic who races KZs/Zs.
From the label: "Kawasaki S4 is designed for wet clutches".

I've been running AMS oil 10W40 for twenty five years. There is no down side except the cost. On the plus side all my bikes run smoother with it.

Here's the Mobil-1 synthetic motorcycle oil I've been using for the past couple years in my '77 KZ650C1 with great results. It is especially formulated for bikes with wet clutches. My bike actually seems to run smoother than before. Only downside is cost:

I would stick with mineral oil. Your bike was designed for it, and Kawasaki recommend it in the shop manual.
