Options: 1. Get your bike in PERFECT tune. 2. Get a non-chrome header (painted or cermic coated). I'm not aware of any aftermarket chrome headers that won't blue if the engine/carbs aren't perfectly tuned.

A single wall pipe is going to turn blue even if it is perfectly tuned. It may take longer, but it will.

I don't want to hijack this thread but it's my turn to ask the stupid question of the week. I know why headers turn blue, but why do they turn a golden, yellowish color?

If your pipes are clean and new, there are a lot of claims on how to prevent it. The most common one I've heard (and the one I got from somebody who's Vstar pipes looked beautiful after two years of long daily commutes) is to well oil or grease the interior prior to installing.
I've seen some good reviews of ceramic based products or products like blue shield, etc but also a lot of people who have spoken poorly of their performance.
Of course, whatever you do is probably similar to kreme in that your mileage may vary based on how well you prep and such.
What do you want for your old pipes?
