HELP! Need Piece of Exhaust Pipe was created by 650ed
The weld on one of the little brackets that holds the "muffler cover" on the exhaust of my my '77 KZ650 broke and the bracket is gone. Does anyone have an old exhaust system (from a KZ650 or other model with the same bracket) that can be cannibalized? I'm interested if someone can just cut the section of pipe out so I can remove the bracket and weld in on my bike. My email is earold@hotmail.com Pictures below show where bracket fell off, general location on pipe, and photo of remaining bracket like the one I need. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks, Ed

If you have a welder that would be pretty easy to make with a nut welded to a strip of sheet metal.

Plumbing clamps or strapping from the hardware store?

On the Kawasaki parts fiche they have a service bulletin from 9-79 that said to use a cover from a KZ650D SR model if this happens. They clamp on instead of screw on. This is how they handled the problem under warranty. Another option to consider.
