Transmission question.

Getting my old 80 1000 LTD going again. From a stop when I shift to first it seems very hard, lungging pretty good. I have forgotten is this the nature of the beast or is something possibly adjustable.

First of all, KZ's are known for their "clunk" going into gear but your clutch plates may be sticking from storage (been sitting awhile?) Mine did the same thing, rocking the bike in gear will help loosen them up. Do a complete clutch adjustment from cover to lever and maybe change oil and filter. Let us know...
