Is it the engine or carbs? was created by KOOL RYDER
Hey there:

I am getting extremely poor mileage on my KZ1000.

1/2 tank = 70km's or 65 miles.

Is that reasonable? The exhaust smells really rich, too rich.

How can I lean out the mixture? Is there a screw that I can adjust on the carbs or is this bike just a gas pig?

Is it the engine or any adjustments I can make there?

I am going on a trip into the rocky mountians and would like some advice.

I am guessing a new air filter would help. It already has new spark plugs and a brand new fuel line. Would an inline filter reduce the consumption at all?

Anways any ideas other than tire pressure would be helpful.

Rockin\' a KZ650B2 since 2007 and a KZ 1000E since 2008

Had the same problem when I first got my bike. In my case the additional symptom was black sooty plugs. :(

Solution for me was the WG Coil Repowering Mod. This also solved hard starting and long warm up period on mine.

See WG CRPM here:

See how I did mine here:

Best of success. :)

PS
Nice seat... have never seen one in Kawasaki Green.
