Running the throttle cables
08 Feb 2006 18:59
I can't find a good way to run the throttle cables. When I got the bike (81 Kz650 csr) they weren't connected so I never saw them in a natural state. The way I have them now they come off the handle bar, go between the big loop of a headlight bracket, run down the right side of the bike and right to the carbs.
The problem is the way I have them running they bind and make the throttle sticky. The carbs are fine and the cables have been lubed. It must be how I have them run.

Try this path.
From handlebar, go above and inside of the right headlight ear. Then between the right fork tube and the frame neck, along the right bottom frame tube which will be under the gas tank. Then go between the top frame tube and the right bottom tube directly into the carbs.

bought it because I was told it would never run again...I like to prove people wrong.

Odd
Apparently the cables were fine. In the hour before remounting the carb on the bike one of the pistons in the carb got stuck. Luckily it was one of the ones on the side. A squirt of wd-40 later and she's working like a charm. Ran the cables the right way though
