NEW BIKE!!!!!!... was created by ted.daFUnky H0M0S@PI3N
I recently acquired a 1977 KZ650 with about 16000 miles on it. The bike ran like a champ for a while around town, then when i tried to take it a little farther (15 miles), it broke down. lI think It broke down because it was leaking oil from the oil breather, since it sputtered and died and the oil light came on. Since then, it has always leaked oil from the breather. This is a problem as it causes the bike to die.
I was told that it was a result of putting too much oil in the crank case, BUt it spills from the breather until the bike is totally out of oil.
The person i bout the bike from put a breather like this on the bike

HOW DO I SOLVE MY PROBLEM!!!?!?!?!?

I also need help with,
-the exact amount of oil to be put in the crankcase(when it's dry)
-where to download a service manual.
-where to find an original factory oil breather.

Thanks a Mil.

those breathers work fine. Sounds like an overfill, dont know why it would be spewing constantly. You have glass oil level gauge on the clutch cover. The oil should be between the lines and should not exeed the top line
(check it cold). Also what broke down? Will it run?

Check your compression and leak down. This may be a classic case of blow-by causing too much pressure in the motor forcing the oil out the breather.

The bike starts up ad runs almost everytime on the first kick/push of a button. Nothing broke down, i feel it is strictly the leaking oil which is a problem, because when the bike doesnt's start on the first kick, the kick is usually prettty tough, and the oil light is on, and then i put some oil in, and it starts right up.
i don't have an o-ring gasket on it right now, the breather is attached by a rubber tube, and screw operated hose clamp.

PS.
how can i get a full new oil breather assembly

WHy not?,

I am not really knowledgeable about bikes, but i figure, if the oil light is on, and the bike is hard to kick, i need to add oil...

I think the oil light is for oil pressure and should be on when the bike isnt running. check the oil level on the sight glass on the right side of the engine, with the bike on the center stand. Better yet if you havent done it in awhile change the oil and filter and put the correct amount of oil in and see if it happens then.

correct amount is approximately 3.8 liters with filter change according to kz650.info
