little background:
I adjusted my cable and pushrod to the specs in the manual - it's just that the clutch doesn't fully grab until I almost completely let go of the lever. I know it's grabbing at full throttle, it's just really abrupt when I take off from a stand still.
All I'm gonna do is buy the friction plates p/n: 13088-030
and probably a clutch cover gasket, is there anything else I need, any seals and what not? I also plan to use the same springs. This is not a hot-rod, just a quick KZ.
thanks

BTW, you might want to go ahead and get the allen bolt kit for your bike there too. The allen heads are a lot less trouble than the phillips screws they used from the factory.

Hey all, I'm going to be replacing my clutch soon, and i was wondering what parts I'll need (79 SR650)
little background:
I adjusted my cable and pushrod to the specs in the manual - it's just that the clutch doesn't fully grab until I almost completely let go of the lever. I know it's grabbing at full throttle, it's just really abrupt when I take off from a stand still.

Am uncertain which '79SR650 manual is being consulted, but understand from other KZr forum threads that some manuals for some models are apparently confusing or just plain wrong regarding clutch pushrod adjustment instructions.
According to the parts diagram in Kawasaki.com, the '79SR650 uses a ball and ramp type clutch pushrod adjustment (as opposed to the earlier screw type).
With the screw type (used on Z1 and KZ900) -- loosen the locknut; turn screw counterclockwise to loosen it, then clockwise until it stops, then counterclockwise 1/2 turn; tighten locknut.
With ball and ramp type (my understanding from other KZr forum threads) -- loosen the locknut; loosen screw; turn screw counterclockwise until it stops, then clockwise 1/2 turn; tighten locknut.
Other members will have better specific knowledge about the '79 SR650 clutch pushrod adjustment procedure, especially with regard to turning the adjusting screw.
Good Luck!
