Head nut torque spec?
06 Jul 2008 12:28
Just wondering if anyone knows the head nut torque for a '77 KZ-750B. This is the twin cyl.
If not, does anyone know where I can get the shop manual? Will kawasaki sell it?

For my 77 650b1 the head nut torque is 27-31 foot lbs. I wouldn't imagine there would be much difference between the torque specs on the bikes. My Clymer's manual has all the torque specs in the front pages of the book, along with the tune up info and all that.

I ride the 750 twin, and the spec is 27 - 33 foot pounds, which is 324 - 396 INCH-POUNDS. I recommend using a smaller range torque wrench like 500 - 600 inch pounds maximum, and torquing up to about 360 IP. If the only wrench you have is one of the big ones that go up to 100 foot-pounds, you can't get good accuracy. The smaller ones designed for transmission work are right for this.
