Before I remove anything else.... was created by BeeSting
The engine cover on the left side of the bike (as seen when you're sitting on it), what is it and can it be removed without dumping oil or anything? I'm referring to the cover with "Kawasaki" written on it.

I'm redoing the Kawasaki writing all over the bike. I already did the right side with very good results.

Thanks

Well, that is the right side of the bike and that is the point/pickup coil cover...safe to remove w/out oil loss. Salvage the gasket:)

Thank, but I was showing a picture of the work I've done so far. So I need to know what is on the left side

Ah, then, yes, you'll lose oil (but not much) as that is the stator cover...why don't you paint it by hand (in place) then you don't have to worry about oil issues and on that one, you should replace the gasket...

For some reason the 1000/1100's seem to have oil under the stator cover (normal?) My 650 and others have always been dry as a bone under there (normal?). I would think the same for your 750 as they are the same engine. I guess it's just a big block thing... ;)

Well I took off the right one and went to town with some nevr dull and then masked it off and painted it. I think I'll be able to do a better job with it off.

Is there supposed to be oil in there (on the left)or is that just something that happens? I figured there was some difference because it has 4 fasteners instead of the 2 that the right has.

The stator on my 650 is totally dry, no oil. However, I have heard that some KZ's do leak a bit of oil in there. You should be able to take it off no problem.

BTW, nice job on the points cover.

Cool, thanks and thanks.

I thought the nevr dull would do a better job. I had some left over at the armory from the memorial I built for the guys our Batallion has lost over the past few years.

It did end up looking a little better and then I used a dremel (black and decker version) to polish it a little more (using the "juice" from the Nevr dull and a little bit of car polishing paste).

After it was done I used (sacraficed) one polishing bit for removing the paint from the "Kawasaki" and then I buffed those letters a bit.

Flitz, or something like that, is a better polish compound. You can get it at most hardware stores.....chris3

Well I got in there but at the expense of two of the screws. Had to drill the heads off them.

Its too bad Kawasaki didn't think of using steel inserts for the threads.

There wasn't any dirt or oil inside the cover.
