Why is everyone having such a screwed up weekend?

Feat NOT...you are not alone!

I have talked to probably half a dozen people who have had things go completely wrong this weekend and 4 of them were mechanical related......GEESH!

Good news is...it's ok. I have spare cases if you need them. In fact, I have a set of MKII cases....They're yours for a fair price if you want them. I also have a set of the older KZ cases...........

I was turning over my engine to check my timing on my camshafts and something jammed. 81 kz1000 ltd BTW. Itook my light and searched in the spark plug holes and didn't see any interaction between the pistons and valves but it was jammed somewhere. I had my timing on right but still a jam. Where was it? One of my shims slipped off the bucket and the lobe of the cam was stuck in the top of the bucket. It pays to check your work 5 times. That almost messed up my weekend.

Thanks RoyNor, found that exact same manual... Much better written than the KZ900 shop manual. Since these two models (pending year) are similar and in some cases exact I should be able to get on with it...

Of course once I get new cases... :whistle:

I have already spoken to MRE where they have what I need plus the shift drum, heavy duty timing chains, timing sprockets, rollers, idlers and gears etc...

Mark1122, Jay is a good guy with great case prices, thanks for the lead! Since I need the shift drum he's giving me a hell of a deal when buying the cases...

In speaking with him, I informed him what I'm doing with this bike and that I had just ordered a 1015cc kit with cylinder from another Florida business. He replied, "yep, we shipped it on Friday"... Huh I replied... MRE did the bore and honing on the cylinder for the other company.

All in all, the KZ GODS have shined on humble old man rock again.

Should be back in gear (no pun intended) this week...

I've downloaded this file but get an error when I try to extract it. (Error message says "There is a CRC error on the file".) Is this manual available anywhere else?

"error when I try to extract it"... What version of WinRar are you using. I just downloaded and extracted the other day with no problems...

I have "PowerArchiver 2001"--it's supposed to work with ".rar" files as well as ".zip" & others. Maybe I should try the WinRar software.
