Have you ever done a complete tune up on it, including checking the valve clearances?
If not, then that would be a good place to start.

By not turn over do you mean the starter won't engage? If that is so it sounds like you have a short in the starter button switch assembly. When you wiggle the throttle it temporarily fixes the problem.

how much will i expect to spend if I have a dealer tune up my bike? I filled up and I've used half a tank in 30 miles!
I've only been riding less than a week and never had it over 55 mph. :S

You must have raw gas running out of it to do that. You should check the fuel levels in your carbs.
I'd vote for starters:
1) Drain and flush fuel tank.
2) Change or install inline fuel filters.
3) Adjust fuel levels in carb bowls.
4) Check valve clearance is a good move, also cylinder compression.

Mike, on Monday I'll try to do some troubleshooting and take it for a ride. The weather is supposed to be good on Monday. We'll do a compression test and also check the coil voltage, although the spark looked good on Thursday.
