'nother oddball question was created by Beepy
So some of you might have been following my little problemma with the friggin oil light... Well I have finally got that running however....

On remounting the exhaust I seemed to have not noticed that two of the copper seals fell out. I have the exhaust bolted on tight with the shims in place, it just sounds like a harley now

I really don't mind this throaty sound much, its just I am planning a 300 mile road trip in two days and am wondering if this will screw things up? I heard about a guy that blew his engine cause did a test run while neglecting to bolt the exhaust back on after a rebuild. Just a bit nervous...

Thanks!!!

It won't really hurt anything as the leak is small. But the sound would drive me nuts so I would just fix it, not a hard job. You'll be glad you did... :)

The exhaust leak will eat away at the softer aluminum head causing a sealing problem later if left unfixed. I would say 300 miles would do some damage. I would fix it before the trip.

Not only can it cause erosion of the sealing surface over time, it can also allow oxygen into the exhaust port, which can cause your exhaust valve to burn.
At least that's what they used to tell me way back in Airframe and Powerplant school.
