Where to find top end gaskets for a 1976 kz400?

I recently acquired a 76 kz400 and am in the process of trying to solve the low compression issue it has in one cylinder. I have removed the head and intend to lap the valves and possibly replace the piston rings(since I'm there already). The problem I'm having is finding a set of gaskets for this particular year. They are all over ebay for 77-78 bikes, but I can't find anything on the web for a 76? Any ideas?

You might try contacting www.johnnysvintagemotorcycle.com/

He has a huge hoard of NOS Kaw parts. That gasket should be pretty easy to find because Kaw had a problem with the early KZ400's leaking oil from the head gasket and came out with a kit to fix them. The problem was that they leaked oil usually not compression. They solved the problem in 78 when they redesigned the engine to have an external oil line to oil the topend.

Hi Sparky 47, I'm pretty sure it's the 11004-103. I still am having zero luck trying to find one.... I'm not quite sure what to do as it looks like it's been discontinued by Kawasaki. Thanks for the help, though.

Jhay77.
If you're prepared to pay postage from Holland then there's one here. [11004-1003 has been replaced by 11004-1259]
Plus a whole load of spares for many Kz400's.
Plus other models:woohoo:

All the Best.

If a '77 KZ400 gasket set is the same as '76, here's a set:

www.oldbikebarn.com/Motorcycle_Parts/Com...na-Engine-Gasket-Set

If it was mine, I'd go to the OEM part lists and verify which gaskets are the same for both '76 and '77. If the major gaskets like the head gasket, valve cover, base gasket are the same it's worth getting the kit. You can usually find the O rings by size from O ring supply houses if they all are not identical.

Thanks for the help... I've found a set on ebay that look like they'll work just fine. I cross-referenced the part number between the years as suggested and found just what I needed.
