Head Gasket? was created by gargoyle
Hi I'm in the middle of putting my 78 KZ650SR engine back together. There is a head gasket on e-bay for $25.00 listed as NOS Part # = 11004-1005. When I look in the Kawasaki Parts Diagrams the PN is 11004-1107. Does any one know if the e-bay gasket will work?

Thanks

Thanks JMK

I've found another reference to the 11004-1005 PN
Fits models:

Z750 1980 - 1983
Z650 1977 - 1983
ZX750 1983 - 1985

Part number:

Supercedes 11004-1107

How can the same head gasket be used for a 650 and 750?

When you bore the cylinders do you still use the same Head gasket?

Just checked the Kawasaki parts diagram for a ZX750-A1 (GPz 750) (1983)and it lists 11004-1107 for the head gasket.

Looks Like 650's and 750 use the same head gaskets. Is this right? Can any one confirm this?

Looks like the same gasket was used extensively for both 650 and 750 engines. Looks like the e bay one might work.

This may not be much help, but I compared the 1005 & 1107 photos at bleablay - they sure look the same to me. And doing some cross-ref at Kaw.com, it appears that they are interchangeable.

Also, FYI, NOS does not necessarily mean it's a genuine Kawasaki part.
It might be a good idea to get verification. JMK.

EDIT: although, since they have the full part number, it's probably genuine Kawasaki.

Not necessarily.... the thieves at Fleabay know how to use the lookup engines too. I bought some NOS valves with the exact kawi part numbers in the ad and they were aftermarket. same with a set of pistons, exact Kawi part number, not a Kawi part... but the parts did fit OK and I am using them.
