what ever you put on the inside will prob burn off in the first few min, remember the temp comming out of the exhaust is way high, propbably around 1200 deg, a jet hot coating or a ceramic that is baked on would live, but anything out of a can will not last

I don't think the paint would do anything toward stopping the bluing since thats a result of how hot they get. If any of the paint peals/flakes off it may get caught up in the packing and cause some restrictions. I'd be interested in anything that might be good for removing/preventing rust in the baffle area since that seems to be the area that tends to rust out first. My pipes are in real good shape externally. I'm sure there is some rust inside and I see some surface rust on the end plate and rivets that I have to clean off from time to time.

What is the "Evaporust treatment" you mentioned?

Evaporust works amazingly well and I would highly recommend this product. The only drawback is that the product needs to be fully immersed in it. I tested it on a side panel of a 1940 chevy that contained surface rust and 60 year old paint, it removed everything. Evaporust also must have some protective properties, because the stripped area did not flash rust like bare metal. Iirc it can be used on a large area by using a pump and keeping the metal covered in a stream. I will try to do some more experiments and post some pics.

And no I do not work for Evaporust,

The inside of the ports, exhaust manifolds (and headers) and turbos, are often ceramic coated to keep the exhaust as hot as possible on high hp turbo applications.

I have considered doing the combustion chambers and ports on my 750/810 project (pistons have been coated), but I'm a little concerned that I may be opening a can of worms if I do the combustion chambers, increased combustion temps might force me to lower compression or run race gas, neither of which I really want.

I'm still researching the concept, haven't found any real info yet.

There has been a lot of going on about temp and speed of flow, a lot of the header wraps are supposed to keep the tem up in the pipe so it flows faster until it hits the collector and then the cold air is supposed to make it speed up more at that point
