Allright seasoned veterans of KZ1000 repair. So as some of you may know I have been putting my bike back together for the better part of the past month. I had some major trans issues last summer, leaving me to fix it myself. Well I got the bike completely together and it actually runs and rides (I am amazed with myself). Here is the problem now, and yes its trans related. When the bike is cold it will shift into 2nd with no problems, but once it gets warm it will bounce in and out from second to neutral. Could I have something misadjusted inside where the shift drum and actual shifter are? Could one of the ratchets be bent causing it to not fully engage? Oh and when you downshift into first it sounds like a bicycle freewheel (thats the best way for me to describe it). Could too much oil cause any of these problems? The reason I ask is because I put about half a quart too much in there when I filled it up after putting the cases back together. Last summer the bike was shifting itself. Now it doesnt want to stay in second. I am thinking about throwing it off the closest bridge I can find. This bike is gonna give me ulcers. Thanks in advance, and if there is anyone in Northwest Indiana who feels they may be able to help. I HAVE MONEY!

my first thought is a shift fork issue, either worn or bent,

I was thinking that too, my only reason for asking about the shifter and shift drum itself is because it seems to me with all the parts inside of there that it would be the easiest thing to screw up putting back together. Also are there any tell tale signs that would show the fork being worn?? I have just been skipping second gear in the meantime and the bike seems to be fine. I was so excited for about 2 days and now this thing is back to its old tricks.
