can,t engage gears, slipping

thank you guys all so much for the insight. Like I said before, I've learned so much just from this forum alone. It's great to know that there are people like you all out there. I just returned from the local Kawasaki shop where I have a "friend" and we figured it was a bad seal that let loose since the bike hasn't really been ridden since '06, and I just took her out for our maiden voyage. The new seal is on the way and I'm one step closer to understanding my ride and closer still to having her on the road. By the way, I'm from Pennsylvania, I'll put that in, and thank you for the offer kind sir.
