People do that, but it is not a good idea. The o.d. of the 6mm bolt is .236" The 1/4-20 is .250". That comes out to only .0075" thread depth on each side. Best to helicoi back to 6mm.

I retapped to 8mm bolts on one of my bikes. Seemed to work fine.

On another bike, I used Time-Serts. Those worked well too.

all of the valves were good....and i almost know i got the bike back into time....i put the arrow on the exhaust cam level with the head facing ford and counted 28 pins back and lined the 28 mark on the intake cam up with it...i dont want to fool with tapping anymore holes out i want to buy a head that all the threads are good on or have already been tapped /helicoiled
