650/750 head compatibility was created by reborn650
Hey Gang. I'm into my 810 upgrade on my '77 Kz650 Custom and have been collecting parts. I need to know if the valve cover from the '82Kz750 can be replaced with my '77 Kz650 valve cover. I'm looking to keep the motor factory stock in appearance. I am pretty sure they are identical on mating surfaces but the 750 has the vent tubes on the top. Any other differences?

I will probably be using the 750 head on the bored 750 block. Also looking to keep the 650's single row cam chain which will involve swapping the cam gears. Can the 650's stock cam chain adjuster bolt run onto the Kz750 block or do I need to use the 750's adjuster?

I think the adjusters are the same (you mean the chain tensioner correct?) I think there is a difference in the non emissions 650 head compared to the emissions 650 or 750 head (I dont have my non emissions 650 head anymore, maybe get a better answer on that) The 750 as you know has a different chain and there is a black plastic or nylon bock in the top of your 750 cam cover that works as the top wheel from your 650 head.

Here is a picture of the non emissions (77)650 head. The emissions head has 4 holes along the exhaust side just to the inside of the cam. I can take a pic of one if youd like.
