I have a 79' KZ400 h1 LTD and I'm having some problems with it. I can get it to start and rev up to a point but then it won't go any further. I thought maybe it needs to have the ignition advance cleaned up so I took it all apart and cleaned and oiled it. This is where I need help. I can't remember which way the cam lobe goes back in. I have a clymers manual for it but they really don't give me alot of help. Can anyone tell me how to put it back in correctly??

Probably the easiest way is just to put it back in and see if the engine starts. You have a 50-50 chance of getting it right, which means it will go in wrong 100% of the time.

You want the spark to occur (points open) at TDC piston stroke. You can pull a spark plug and look in to see if they are TDC. Turn the crank nut with the 17 mm wrench until it is at TDC and install the timing assembly so the points are open there.

If you get it on 180 out, the spark will be firing at bottom dead center and it won't run.
