Well I worked out the last of the bugs on my bike today and took her out for her first little spin since the mid eighties earlier today, thanks in part to help I have gotten here from some people, thank you. But now I have some basic questions that some would have been in the owners manual if I would have had one. The first being what weight of oil do they recommended in the crankcase, 10w-40, and how often to change it? The second what kind of fluid do you put in the master cylinder, standard brake fluid? And the third being where can you still get the oil filter (Kawasaki part # 16099-002)? And the last being what kind of handle bars are other owners running on these bikes, I really hate how much they bend in towards you while riding, the don't offer the stability they could and should like other bikes.

10w40, 15w40, 20w50, I run 15w40 Shell Rotella in mine and change it every 2k miles.

Yep, standard brake fluid.

Napa, most Auto Parts stores, and many places online.

Personally, Superbike bars are the most comfortable I've tried, I put them on all my bikes.

This is a really good article on oils. Worth a read for every motorcycle owner.

For my two cents: not more than about 1500 - 2k miles or six months, whichever comes first. castrol GTX 10-40 is good, synthetics are also good but some people say the 10-30 weights will make your clutch slip. haven't seen it myself.

Thanks, I have thought of a few more questions also. What is the spark plug gap suppose to be, and what is the the max speed of one of these bikes. Another is, do they make an aftermarket exhaust that is made for her?

Well I have a 78' 750 twin and it goes 105 (so says the speedometer) I have the only aftermarket exhaust I can find for it which is from mac's. They make a 2 into 2 and a 2 into 1 that comes with chrome headers and black headers. its not great but it works.

I see both sets posted on ebay all the time. I bought my used MAC 2-1 there and passed on the new one (for $240).

Here they are:
