more problems than i thought was created by triggerbilly
ok my wiring harness need working out (or replacing)
I'm getting nothing when i press the start button (not even a click)

I had the bike on it's center stand earlier, put it in gear and there was compression (couldn't turn the back wheel) but when i held in my clutch it was just the same !!!

So i figured out ....THE CLUTCH AIN'T WORKING !!
When i bypass the starter switch and short the poles on the solenoid the starter motor spins but nothing is engaging

so my question is ....
Is this anything to do with the clutch ????

this bike hasn't run in 20 years, if thats any help on why the clutch is not doing anything
there is tension on the lever and when i pull it, there is a noise coming from the engine like springs being compressed

id say pull the plugs and dump some gas/trans fluid down the holes and let it sit a while, sounds like motors locked up to me.maybe try pulling valve cover also to make sure everything moves if you get motor broke loose;)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

Theres going to be a looot of dried up parts! With the clutch I suggest you take the clutch off, separate the clutch discs and give tem a good soaking in oil. The clutch relies on lubrication and could just be stuck together!

The clutch often sticks.

Sometimes you can get lucky and open up the oil cap to look down at the clutch disks.

Good opportunity to hose them down with a good chemical cleaner. If the clutch is old enough, the ears will snap off if you look at them the wrong way (ask me how I know) so don't go crazy on the prying.

maybe some light taps will get them apart, though. Flush your case and ride off into the sunset.

There's a lot of good wiring threads here too...
