having some trouble with my 900 shes bone stock and has been sitting for a couple of seasons. got it running and ran about a tank of gas thru it. seemed like it would only need maybe a carb clean up to get it back to running good. had some cam chain noise , so i adjusted it and then noticed some valve noise in the number two cylinder. Now like i said i was running kinda crapy, But i thought it was carbs. so i do a compression test an i get a little bad news, #2 was 50 psi and the rest were all about the 130 mark. i suspect that its a valve and because is was sitting for a bit i.m thinking maybe just a stuck valve. looking for some tips an setting and checking valve clearances.
any imput would be helpful
Hoping it aint a bent valve

First thing you need is to buy a manual, either factory, via ebay, or an aftermarket manual. The rest is down hill from there.....chris3

did you check the valves to see if you might have a tight one?
also you can fill the cyl up with air and see where it goes

hey thanks for the replies
i have a manual what im looking for is the clearance's for the cam . I want to check if a have something to tight and i have re-torgued back to factory spec's just dont know the clearance 0.05-0.10 mm not sure and the table page is riped out. cam looks good no scoring, gotta start some where thought that would be a good place. if everthing is good there i will try and put a little oil down #2 clyinder and see if that gives me back some compression if it does i know what im looking at for sure.

try this,,remove the spark plug and put in some oil.hook up your compression tester and spin it over with wide open throttle. if the compression jumps up then its bad rings. if it stays the same then its valve problem
