This isn't a KZ question but I'm hoping it's general enough that KZ folk can help me with it.

I was given a "free" 1981 Honda CB650C. It hasn't been run in 16 years although it did when it was parked. I am the second owner and it even came with a genuine Honda shop manual for it. I know what to do with the seized brake calipers. I don't know what to do about the seized engine although I have a dim memory of someone telling me that I can pull the spark plugs out, which I've done, and pour ATF into each cylinder ... and wait. The plugs came out suprisingly easily, something I wasn't expecting. Can anyone out there validate the ATF solution regarding getting the motor unstuck?

ive always sprayed a ton of pb blaster in the plug holes, waited a few days, then gently rocked the bike back and forward in gear. it works surprisingly well, but you have to be gentle and take your time, it pointless if you snap a poston ring.

There is a penetration oil called Kroil which is very good at penetrating into stuck metal pieces. You might try either spraying or squirting the cylinders with it from the top through the plug holes and let it sit a few days and see if it will unfreeze the rings.

aero-kroil, by Kano . Great stuff. PB blaster is also very good, I just never had 1 can of it that I could spray the entire contents out of . so I quit buying it. Good luck !

I've had good luck with Marvel Mystery Oil, the name makes it sound like a bullshit product, but it has worked for me. After you get the engine unstuck don't use the electric starter to turn it over with the oil still in the cylinders and the plugs out. It is totally amazing how high up the side of your house this stuff will shoot. Don't ask me how I know.

ATF in the cylinders of a stuck motor is standard practice among all the mechanics I have even known (a bunch since I've been one off and on for 40 years). But in anther thread I recommended penetrating oil for that purpose :D

Penetrating oil is faster than ATF, penetrating oil (PB Blaster, Kroil, etc) will do in a day as much as ATF will do in a week.

Just remember the reason the motor is stuck, cast iron rings have rusted to cast iron liners, and rust leaves pits in the liners. Don't expect the motor to run perfect.

Gun nuts make a cleaning solvent they used to call Ed's Red which was mostly ATF mixed with kerosene. It's really good at penetrating. I still like Kroil, never tried the kerosene mixture.

A year or so ago I thought they were gonna outlaw Kroil in Maine for health reasons...So I went to Napa and bought a case for $120. Figured they haven't made a better penetrating oil in forever so I might as well get a lifetime supply  I'd use the stuff for sex if old lady would let me, and sometimes I put a little on before going out on the town...I love that smell!
