Stalling

Hey, just got my 78 650 running the other day, went to ride it today and it has no power off idle, rev's up fine but when I let clutch out in 1st it just bogs and dies, any help? idle set at 1000, just cleaned carbs, maybe they need adjusting? has good compression, starts with just tapping starter I need help! it's getting warm out and I need to ride!!!

Would first check for proper operation of advancer unit (under points cover) using a strobe-type timing light to watch advancer unit advance and retard as rpm's are varied by throttle position.
