Just started the old bike back up after sitting a couple of years. Cleaned out carbs, reset points, new cond, new plugs. Will run good at times. I took it on a short ride around the neiborhood about 2 miles & it would run great then the cyl would cut out. Stay out for a while then start running good again. Haven't had time to check out yet. I was thinking about the wireing to the coil but haven't check it yet. Any body have any other things I should check when I get time to work on it again. Maybe next weekend. It would cut down on gas thats for sure.

I'm not saying you have to go that far, but I found out and fixed A LOT when I opened the heads and rebuild my valves.

Look for and make sure all of the electrical connections between the coils and points are clean and tight as well as the feed coming from the kill switch. After a few years of sitting, corrosion has a remarkable way of setting in and making intermittent connection.

Electrical problems can be tough to track down. I hope you have success.
I had a similar problem, but fortunately new plugs cured my problem.

Thanks for the all quick answers. I have had electic problems before. Where 2 wires connect to 1 wire under tank looks like I'll have to get my meter out & track that down. Have a good day. Do something for mom if it wasn't for her we would not be here.
