KZ900 Drive Chain Cover Fitment

I am trying to finish up my 76 KZ900 build. I completely rebuilt the motor and tore apart the entire bike. I am having problems getting the drive chain cover to go back on. It is hitting the clutch pushrod and not allowing the cover to go completely on. It is sticking out just about a 1/4 inch too far. I am completely frustrated and this bike has been fighting me the entire way. I had a bunch of other parts from another bike and it is possible that maybe the pushrod is from there? Anyone know the length that my pushrod should be? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!
