I have a 1982 KZ550 A3. Bike is a restore. Cleaned carbs, changed oil/filter, added inline fuel filter, new battery, new plugs, and cleaned gas tank. Bike gets good spark. Initially compression was 92, 120, 122, 135 before it started. Now i'm getting 140 and 145 on cylinders 1 and 4. Haven't rechecked cylinders 2 and 3 yet. It starts right up and idles rought for a little bit then it smoothes out and is ready to ride. After riding up and down the alley a couple times, only getting into third gear, it loses power. Basically chokes out and sounds like its out of gas or something. Sounds like it is warming up again. Cannot turn throttle or it dies. Today when I started it, and after it warmed up (idling), I sprayed the headpipes coming out of the cylinders with a spray bottle. Cylinders 2,3,4 vaporized the water. Cylinders 1 was warm but not hot. After reving it up to 5 or 6k and letting it idle back down a few times, all cylinders were now hot but I lost power. Chokes out when I twist the trottle. Plug one was slightly oily(barely). Plug 4 was brownish and slightly whitish on the tip. Is this bike in need of some engine work? Top end? Valve clearances? Rings? The original plugs were oil fouled. Should I check ignition resistance?
Thanks

The first thing I would check would be for vacume leaks.
Since you cleaned the carbs I would check the valve clearances next.
