1976 to !979 Engine Part Compatibility

I have a 1979 Kz750 twin that needs lots of new parts for the engine, as of now i think i need a dynamo and starter clutch for sure. I found a '76 KZ750 twin motor on Craigslist for 85 bucks. Does anyone know if i can use parts from this '76 to fix my '79

Everything but the alternator (dynamo) and left side engine cover will interchange. 76-77 have an alternator that is energized and controlled by a coil (and separate regulator and rectifier), 78-80 and 82-83 (84 in Canada) alternators are permanent magnet and interchange.

I'm sure I have an alternator around here somewhere, probably not a good starter clutch though. Starter clutches are rebuildable, I think Jeff at Z1 Enterprises can get the parts.

Where are you located?

I am located in Dallas. I have had a hard time finding parts. I am about to relocate to Colorado in a few weeks so getting the bike running is a big task before i leave.

I have a lot of engine parts left, not so much in the way of other parts.

I am junking a 76 still has some good engine parts left.
