Still looking for suggestions on how to make my 81 kz 1000 csr louder (nice rumble) but not too obnoxious.
without re-jetting the carbs...Maybe a Jardine or MAC system ??? Slip on's or full replacement ?? Part #'s
or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....
Thank you... and have a Safe and Happy Riding Day....

If your stock exhaust is in good shape you ought to consider selling the system on eBay. Stock exhaust systems sell very well and you can use the bucks to finance the Headers.
If you start modifing the exhaust you have they will lose thier value real fast.
Jeff Saunders sells Vance and Hines Headers for a reasonable price. Roy

Hello and thanks to all who answered my question.
I really would not want to get rid of my original system. I just seem to like to keep all the original stuff in case I need to put it back on in the future.
I probally should just stick with the old "if it's not broke don't fix it" saying. Thanks again..I'm sure I'll be posting more ???'s in the future...
Have a happy and safe riding season to all...Don

I too have an 81 KZ1000 CSR. I had my oem exhaust rot out, so I replaced it with a Mac 4into 1. Fit great, sounded great, but then I ran into a BUNCH of other problems,(NOT RELATED TO THE EXHAUST) and have not been able to get this baby up and running for quite a while. I am getting ther slowly(Good thing I have my Vulcan 1500!)
I do like the fact that the 4into 1 is a lot easier to take off so I can jack up the bike. The Oem was a &%$#@to work with. Good Luck, Switch. Shoot me an email and we can compare bike status(plural).
