A guy on her has a 650 oil cooler on his bike and if you look really close at his pics you can see that the oil cooler is hooked up to one of the plugs on the side near the bottom under the crank.
what ever oil cooler you deside to go with make sure it is a stepped cooler. I know b+m make one. The stepped cooler makes a 10 degree difference from the regular finned one. Also its stonger.B)
I belevr I saw a pic of his bike in the new members, his name is John Stead.

There are 2 connections set up for the cooler. One is where Snakebyte mentions, right side bottom front of engine. I have a cooler on my bike. A Derale. It was installed in the '80s by a shop I had a lot of work done at the time. Mine is not connected at the factory locations though. Why I don't know. I've always wondered why they hookd it up the way they did. I do recall them saying it was not getting warm, so they set it up differently. I can try to take a good look at it and take some pics if you like.

You can also get a oil pan and cooler off a GPZ 750. You just mave to block off where the sending unit mounts.

Here's a pic of my 2 connections. Again, it was done by a shop in the '80s. They drilled and tapped holes for the fittings. The Red arrow shows the feed connection which is just in front and to the right side of the filter cover. There is a cast spot in the pan as if something was to go here. The yellow arrow is the return line from the cooler. It connects at the rear side of the filter.

The blue arrow is pointing at the stock? return connection.

Why the shop did this at the time I have no idea, it seems so much easier to use the two connection points listed/meant for an Oil Cooler. I do recall them saying the cooler was not warming when they hooked it up at first, but if they used those 2 points, I don't know.

Looking at the Oil Path route in the filebase, it looks like hooking the cooler to the rear right connection (blue arrow) and the other connection under the Oil Pressure switch, will bypass the filter. Is this correct? Will you also get a pumping action hooked up to these points? As it looks like the connections are to the same oil passage, just at different ends.

I checked out that article too and was wondering the same thing. Isn't the right front bleed off from the post filtered flow moving up the cylinder block to the cams? And I suspect that the rear inlet is the pre filtration area. Then again, I could be completely wrong. Maybe if engines were made of glass :)
