Bead blasting or something else? was created by kxhonda
I'm getting to the point that I need to think about what finish I want on my engine. I have bead blasted my motor before and I'm not sure I like the results. Looks good at first but too porous and gets dirty way to fast. Plus I don't much care for the matte flat dull look.

I have been looking at this guys site z900.piczo.com/ (Nice bikes!!) And I love the finish on all his aluminum parts. It is actually shiny and looks very similar to stock He says he uses a process called vapor blasting? Problem is he is in AU. Does anybody know of anyone that does this in the states? I have called just about everywhere to find somewhere and most places haven't even heard about it.

Maybe baking soda blasting would work. I've seen them do in on some of the car tv shows, looks like it leaves a pretty smooth surface. Just a thought.

Well I talked to a company about soda blasting and they didn't think it would be aggresive enough to do anything.
