76 KZ-750 Twin inconsistant idle was created by humourcar
Hi all,
I have a bit of a problem I was hoping someone could help me with.
My 76 KZ750 twin has a very inconsistant idle even when it's warmed up. It runs at about 1500 rpm then revs up to 3 grand then back to 1500. Now I know I should have it set at about 1000 or so but it just won't stay running at that rpm.

I did a complete carb rebuild a month ago and have the pilot jets set at 2 turns out. I have tried everything from 1 turn out to 3 turns out and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I have a video posted of the engine running on youtube. I apologise for the link posting if it violates any site policies.

Any advice you be greatly appreciated.

You may have an air leak around the choke plunger pads. Suggest you jiggle the choke knob a bit next time the rpms shoot up and see if it settles down again. If so, the pads on the plungers or the plungers need to be replaced.
