That's where the tach cable hooks up.

That is where the tach would normaly go but it is apperantly not machined, so the bike which that head came from has an electronic and not a mechanical tach.

This isn't the head on my bike but i have an electronic tach on my bike. It appears it has been blocked off and is leaking around that area. I have 79 1000 could anyone tell me where I can get this part?
I am trying to sell the bike and want to fix it before I sell it. Here are a couple pics.

Up front, I have never had this problem.
However, have you considered taping it and inserting a threaded plug. Your local auto shop should be able to recommend a plug, probably brass, and preferably with an integrated O-ring or at least Teflon tape.
Best of success and let us know how you eventually solve this.
PS
That's a real beauty. Too hard a ride for my body these days but its still a class act.

If you do use teflon tape make sure that you leave 2-3 treads exposed on the end. Teflon tape isn't actually supposed to be used to seal things but it will do the trick. the reason you don't want to cover the whole bolt however is because some of that tape will break off and could get lodged in the filter or other small holes used to lubricate the engine. In hydraulics your not supposed to use it at all for this reason but you can generally get away with it if you don't tape the whole bolt.
